Atlanta - 1B Bai Ling is tied for first in the NL with 4 HR's, is second in RBI's with 13, and is sixth in hitting with a .370 average. Ling's has hit 4 of the Vixens' 9 HR's on the season. Atlanta is tied for third in the VBL with a .272 average. Despite a good start by first round pick, P Beth Ostronsky (2-1, 2.66 ERA, 20.1 IP), the team is 15th in the VBL with a 5.00 ERA.
Los Angeles - It is an understatement to say that the Amazons' bats have been cold so far this season. They are last in the VBL with a .220 average and last in runs scored with 29. 2B Leah Remini, their second round draft pick, is hitting only .171 and has 14 K's in 41 AB's. P Vanessa Paradis has been a bright spot - she has a 2.59 ERA through 24.1 IP's.
Miami Beach - First round draft pick, LF Jo O'Meara has lived up to the hype so far. In 44 AB's. she is hitting a scorching .477, has 4 HR's, and 10 RBI's. She has struck out only 4 times. With help from C Julia Roberts who is also hitting over .400, (.421), the Flamingos lead the VBL in hitting with a .294 mark. The pitching staff has held their opponents to the lowest average in the league, .234.
Philadelphia - At 8-3, the Liberty Belles have the best mark in the VBL. Starters Ione Skye (1.59) and Amanda Swisten (1.38) have ERA's below 2.00 to lead the way. The starters are gobbling up the innings - relievers have only pitched 13 innings in the 11 games. Closer Julianne Moore has saved 5 of the 8 victories.
Phoenix - CF Ziyi Zhang leads the team in hitting with a .432 average. The third round pick has a .475 on-base percentage. C Paula Abdul was hitting a sub-Mendoza .120 (3-25) before being put on waivers. She is currently waiting on assignment after clearing waivers. The Firebirds have made numerous changes to their roster already this season, including 7 free agent signings, and the 8 promotions to their major league roster.
Sacramento - C Ali Larter is 10-16 in her last 5 games for a .625 average. For the year, she is hitting .364. On the opposite end of the spectrum, 3B Amber Smith is 3-26 (.115) in her last seven.
St. Louis - The Unicorns are off to a rough start at 2-9. First round pick, 2B Cleopatra Higgins, is doing her best - she is hitting .395, 4th in the NL, and has 4 HR's. Now if someone could get on base in front of her - even with those 4 homers, she has only 7 RBI's. Pitching has been okay, but the team's batting average is a dismal .227 (15th in the VBL.)
Seattle - Pitching has been solid for the 6-4 Emeralds - they lead the VBL with a team ERA of 2.64. If they maintain and can get some hitters on track, they may challenge for the West Division's crown. 1B Andrea Corr leads the hitters with a .351 average; the only other hitter over .300 is SS Portia de Rossi at .316.

AL Team Notes - April 18, 2005
Baltimore - The Robins are tied for the best record, 7-4, in the American League. CF Christina Aguilera (.429, 12-28, 2 hrs) is off to a hot start and SS Krista Allen leads the team with 11 RBI's. LF Tamera Mowery is off to a dismal start (.120, 3-25). P Michelle Branch has 15 K's in 14.1 innings pitched.
Boston - First round pick 1B Diane Farr is second in the AL with 4 HR's. C Zara Phillips has been a pleasant surprise for the Shamrocks. She is off to a fast start, hitting .368 (14-38). The starting rotation has been disappointing. The lowest ERA for a starter is 4.63 (Ayumi Hamaski, 11.2 innings pitched.)
Chicago - The Banshees are off to a disappointing 3-8 start. Hitting has run hot and cold, most evident by P Tweet Keys 0-1 record despite a 2.25 ERA in 3 games and 20 innings pitched. She also has 23 K's. They did display signs of breaking out with a 12-0 victory on 4/16, handing Robins' P Christy Thom her first loss of the season.
Colorado - Despite a 3 game losing streak within the first two weeks of the season, the Valkyries are tied for the best record in the AL with a 7-4 mark. CF Jody Foster leads the AL with 5 HR's. P Cindy Crawford is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA (3 G, 20 IP) and 22 K's.
Dallas - Since starting the season with four straight wins, the Diamonds are 2-5. 1B Danielle Fishel has 12 K's in only 41 AB's (1 every 3.4). Starters Charisma Carpenter (1.45, 18.2 IP), and Lisa Ling (1.98, 13.2 IP) both have ERA's below 2.00. The Diamonds are third in the VBL with a team era of 2.97.
Detroit - The Divas are 14th in batting average (.236) and 15th in HR's (5). But their pitching has led them to within a game of the division leading Robins. They are second in the VBL with a 2.80 team ERA. The highest ERA on the team is only 4.50 (SP Margo Harshman in 12 IP's).

The Hawks are 12th in the VBL in hitting (.238). Closer Salli Richardson has blown 2 out of 5 save opportunities and has a 7.2 ERA. The Hawks have lost two extra innings ballgames already in this young season (9-8 to Boston in 12 innings, and 4-3 to Texas in 15.)
